Course Contents
The course Globally Distributed Software Engineering (GDSE) will address pro's and con's of GDSE, practical consequences of GDSE, technological (in)feasabilities for GDSE, and practical experiences and examples of GDSE for example in outsourcing, off-shoring, near-shoring and multi-partner systems development. Guest lectures from industry will be an integral part of the course, as well as understanding practical hands-on experiences with developing software in a (globally) distributed setting. The central theme of this course is the fact that software engineering is carried out in practice more and more in globally distributed settings. This has advantages and disadvantages that need to be addressed in a practical matter when carrying such projects.
Study Goals
The course Globally Distributed Software Engineering (GDSE) aims at teaching participants (1) the technical and organisational setting of carrying out software engineering in practice when distributed over the world, and (2) understanding best-practices in collaboration in software engineering project teams that carry out their work in a distributed setting.
